2011 Nissan Juke Custom Yakima Rack

8 02 2011

This 2011 Nissan Juke is outfitted with a custom roof rack using components from Yakima.

We started by determining placement of the rack on the roof of this vehicle.  This will allow for the maximum usability of the rack, as well as making for the most aesthically pleasing rack.  Once the placement was determined, the owner was looking to carry snowboards, we attached 2 pair of  Yakima Landing Pad 7.

After the Landing Pads are attached we will proceed to mount the remainder of the rack.  This will consist of Yakima Control Towers, 48″ Yakima Load Bars, a Yakima 38″ Fairing, and finally a 4-Pack of Yakima SKS lock cores

The Control Tower/Landing Pad system has many great features, this rack is quickly removable when not in use and a very sturdy option to add more space and storage to the Nissan Juke.  This Yakima system will allow for any of Yakima’s accesories to attach; from bike carriers and cargo boxes to ski carriers and boat racks.

The Thule 575 Snowboard rack will carry 2 snowboards and will not carry ski’s. It is designed so that it carries your snowboards at an angle in order to reduce the space used on your vehicles crossbars. The rack includes locks and universal hardware which fits thule, yakima, and most factory crossbars. The snowboards are held in place by two cables as seen in the picture below. Please visit RACKATTACK.COM for all your car rack needs.

  • Can adapt to factory racks, as well as square and round load bars
  • Fully adjustable to accommodate different board widths
  • Two board angled design allows more room on top for a Thule box and other gear attachments
  • Now includes Thule Fat Mouth Clamps, for quick attachment to different factory racks
  • Cable lock is covered with protective nylon to prevent damage to snowboards

2008 Toyota Tacoma custom roof rack with ski carrier

This custom rack can be applied to almost any vehicle, not only the 2008 Toyota Tacoma. It starts with a track system that is permanently installed on the roof. The advantages of the track are that it increases weight capacity and allows the bars to slide forward and back so that they can be positioned with a variety of bar spreads. Then comes a crossbar setup which attaches into the track. This particular one uses Yakima Landing Pad 1′s attaching to the 54″ track. Yakima Control Towers on top of the Landing Pads and 58″ crossbars. The Yakima Fat Cat 6 ski and snowboard rack is then attached to the crossbars. This ski and snowboard rack can carry 4 snowboards or six pairs of skis, even wide boards or skis.

This rack requires some drilling to attach the track to the roof of the vehicle and then the rest of the components are attached on and are removable. This type of install takes about 1-2 hours to install.
