This innovative, wind tunnel-tested family of products is, simply, the quietest, most aerodynamic and fuel efficient line of roof racks in the world. As stunningly beautiful as they are sturdily built, Whispbar by Yakima products are crafted for the outdoor-minded among us with a more discerning taste.

Here at Rack Attack we were the first to get our hands on this sweet new product. To be truthful it’s actually just new to the US market. Whispbar is a trusted name in the rack business based in New Zealand and Rack Attack sold this line before Yakima was able to get their hands on it. We are happy to offer these systems now under the Yakima line, bringing a greater amount of stock and vehicle fits to the US.

The photos above are custom applications that Rack Attack does exclusively, these can be install at any one of our locations across the US .

Whispbar can also be self installed on vehicles with clip into the door applications as well as factory rack compatible applications like the ones below.

This idea came from a customer’s need of transporting her wheelchair, but wanted something more stable than a tray on a hitch with bungees. We started with the Yakima Hold-up 1.25″ hitch mounted bike carrier.

We modified this by flipping the rear bike tray so that the 2 trays are facing the same direction. Next, I removed the hook used for retaining bikes and discarded it. The chair is secured with the ratchet straps in the wheel hoops, and 1 hook over the armrest area of the chair. The hoops for the front wheels were folded back against the footrests and secured with a tiedown strap. This has turned out to be an easy to use great functioning system for our customer.

This 2012 Infiniti M37X is outfitted with a custom installed Thule roof rack. We began with the Thule TK14 footpacks which were mounted to the sheetmetal of the roof. From here we added the430R Rapid Aero Tracker Foot with a pair of 47″ rapid aero bars.

The Rapid Aero bars are constructed of aluminum for better corrosion resistance as well as providing a more visually appealing rack. To finish the base rack system we added the THule 872XT Wind Fairing as well as the Thule 544 4-pack of locks cores for security.

Once the base system was installed we added a Thule FlatTop 4 ski/snowboard carrier. This was mounted using one of Rack Attack’s methods which will allow for accessories to be mounted flush to the bar, again providing the cleanest look possible.

Here we have a 2009 Audi S4 getting fitted with a Yakima base rack system. We start with two pair of Landing Pad 7′s. We then mount these directly to the sheet metal. We attach these close to the door frames adding extra hold. These kind of installs typically call for a 28″-31″ inch bar spread. By doing so, this allows you to hold Cargo Boxes, Skis and Snowboards, Bikes, and even kayaks. Before we attach the Landing Pad 7s we First insert a plus nut, allowing the Lp7 hardware to thread into your roof. We also apply silicon preventing water damage and rust.

Next we need a set of Yakima Control Towers. This is the tower that mounts onto the Landing Pad 7s, the Yakima 48″ cross bars also attach to this tower. The paticular step needs no hardware, just a few simple measuremets to determine the over hang outside of the towers. The Control tower has a quick release feature allowing the user to remove the rack within minutes. This then leaves the mounting hardware still attached to your roof in certain locations. To prevent theft of the rack we highly recommend Four Sks Lock Cores.

This 2008 Volkswagen GTI 3-door is outfitted with a custom track system using Thule components. We started by attaching a Thule 54″ Track running front to back on the roof, we went as far to the sides as possible to make for a stonger system.

After installing the track on the roof, we inserted the TK1 Tracker Footpack. This will be the base in which tower will install to. We adjusted the TK1 to provide us with a 31″ bar spread to accomodate skis and snowboards. We also centered them in the track to make for level bars. After the TK1 is tightened we proceeded to attach the 430 Tracker II towers to a pair of LB50 50″ Thule load bars and mount on the previously installed TK1s.

Next we added the 91726 Universal Pull Top ski carrier to accomadate 6 pair of skis or 4 snowboards. For the final step we added the 544 4-pack of Thule lock cores to make the whole system secure.

The finished product is a very stong and versatile system to carry any load you need to. The tracks will provide a higher weight limit as well as allowing to adjust your bars front to back for various accessories and loads. This will also allow for bike carriers, cargo boxes, and boat carriers.

This 2011 Nissan Juke is outfitted with a custom roof rack using components from Yakima.

We started by determining placement of the rack on the roof of this vehicle. This will allow for the maximum usability of the rack, as well as making for the most aesthically pleasing rack. Once the placement was determined, the owner was looking to carry snowboards, we attached 2 pair of Yakima Landing Pad 7.

After the Landing Pads are attached we will proceed to mount the remainder of the rack. This will consist of Yakima Control Towers, 48″ Yakima Load Bars, a Yakima 38″ Fairing, and finally a 4-Pack of Yakima SKS lock cores.

The Control Tower/Landing Pad system has many great features, this rack is quickly removable when not in use and a very sturdy option to add more space and storage to the Nissan Juke. This Yakima system will allow for any of Yakima’s accesories to attach; from bike carriers and cargo boxes to ski carriers and boat racks.
