The Acura TL allows for a hitch receiver to be bolted to the underside of the trunk. The hitch requires two holes to be drilled through the bottom of the trunk in order for the hitch to be bolted to the vehicle. Installation is rather simple and can be done in about an hour. With this hitch you can tow a maximum of 2,000 lbs or in this case carry 2 bikes with a tongue weight capacity of 200lbs. On this application we attached a Thule Roadway 2 bike rack. This bike rack accommodates mountain and road bikes.

Bike Rack Tilts down for easy trunk access.
This is exactly what I was looking for. Would you mind passing along information on the vendor of he hitch?
The manufacturer is Hidden Hitch, which we have available at each of our locations. The Hidden Hitch product number is 60814, click here for more details.
Do you recall if you can open the trunk on the TL with the rack in it’s normal upright position?
Sorry I do not recall, in most cases the bike rack has to be tilted down.
Do you think the 200lb tongue weight is enough to hold 4 bikes?
This depends on the weight of the bikes. Most class I and II hitches are recommended to carry no more than 2 bikes.
This system is limited to a 2 bike capacity.
